I’ve decided to try and sew some cloth pads for a local domestic violence women’s shelter. I called the shelter. After I explained the what, why, how, and average start cost, they were very enthusiastic and eager for the product.
After sewing a bit of them, I’m not the greatest seamstress that ever lived but I don’t think they’re too bad. I think I could even get away with selling a couple if I completely changed my pattern. I reversed engineered a person’s pattern that has a very popular shop, being Yurtcraft, but hers are still a bit higher quality. I did that because I liked her work and the product worked well for me. I’m not gonna sell them though, just give them away as a charity project.
Anyway, my goal is to sew a couple sets. They said they will store them with the diapers and other feminine care products. I have to keep my patterns kinda tame/neutral… (no political messages, no religious messages, no violent characters for very obvious reasons). I’m very excited for my project.
