Hi, /r/sewing! Right now, I mostly repair and alter clothing. I am interested in making pieces of my own, and I have been learning quilting.
I was getting ready to take my machine in for a tune up, and I wondered if I was better off investing in another instead of my basic Brother. I also have 2 other machines my neighbor passed along. I don’t really have the space or need for 3 machines and I can’t afford to service and tune them all so I was hoping to pick one.
I currently have a basic Brother PS 1000. It works fine.
The other two machines are more vintage. They are a Singer 301 (looks like this one) and a Dressmaker SS-2402. I know little about either one. They are both in very good condition. But neither appear to be in ready to sew condition. They have their cords and appear to be have all parts.
If you had to keep one—or maybe 2 if there was a compelling reason—which would you pick?
Or another option that just came to be, would you get rid of all three and get something else?
Thank you!
