[Q] Want to establish a male fashion brand… I have a Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

[ad_1]

Hello /r/sewing,

I've been considering for some time now to create some suits. I would love for this project to become a hobby that would lead to income. I've never had formal training, and my weak googling has lead me to believe that from-scratch suits is a lost art. Talking with tailors in my area the consenus is to buy a premade suit from China and alter it for a "Custom" suit… I love the idea of ground-up work & craftsmanship. I would love to learn more about sewing, tailoring, ect even to the point where I would purchase raw materials, weave and dye them, then cut and sew them into a truely one of a kind masterpiece… The only issue is, I need guidance… All things considered, what does /r/sewing have to say about this?

I'd love to become a recognized brand, one that people know and trust. I'm currently in that basment with a sewing machine and at the "not a clue stage". I know I can do this. I'm just asking for help, whatever I can get.

Currently I'm thinking of purchasing some vouge suit patterns (bc i cant find any others) and just eyeballing fashion magazines and department store versions of these older styled suits. Anyone know what other steps I can take for this?

Also, any books that people have read and recommend for me to start my journy for devloping this brand would help too…

Thanks reddit!
