My basic brother can't atitch without knotting. Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hey all- I was gifted a brother jx2517 a few Christmases ago. I haven’t used it in a while and when I tried to sew it made a klanking noise and can’t get two stitches in without pulling the fabric down and becoming a rather large knot. I have been sitting here trying to figure it out for a while so I manually ran a few stitches without the bobbin and the noise and knot still happened. Is there any hope?
