I was running my Brother cs6000i with a free motion foot for a few hours tonight with no issue, until all of a sudden I couldn’t move the fabric forward anymore, it was jammed up. I basically had to rip the fabric out, it got so jammed up around the feed dogs. I took the bobbin thread out and untangled it, tried it again, still jammed. I didn’t change any thread tension, or thread, but I thought maybe I had loaded the bobbin up with too much thread so I tried a bobbin with less thread on it, but no go. It even jammed up as soon as I tried to manually draw up the bobbin thread, I could see it throwing the thread around the bobbin through the window, but then it got stuck and I couldn’t turn the wheel – that ruled out the fabric being the issue. So I re-threaded the top thread, made sure the needle was tight, switched back to the standard presser foot, and took the bobbin case out and blasted the whole thing with some compressed air to clean out the lint. Still jamming 🙁
I’m worried something happened inside my machine like a broken belt or gear, or an upper thread tension disc broke or something. Otherwise I don’t know why it would be chugging along totally fine, then all of a sudden quit. I’ve never opened the whole thing up before to look.
Is there a simple fix I missed? I’m bummed because I can’t sew until I figure it out. Thanks for your suggestions!
