Hey everybody! The last couple weeks have been full of changes around here. First of all, there are two new mods, and we are both working to actively enforce the rules of the subreddit, and to foster a community around here.
There’s a new reddit feauture where we can write official rules for the subreddit, and users can use those rules as reasons to report posts and comments. You can read the updated rules here. We have changed the wording on some of the rules, so it’s a good idea to read over them. They are now:
No Blog Spam. This has always been a ‘discouraged action’, but we have now written a description of what that means. If you see a post that you feel violates this rule, feel free to report it.
No selling anything from which you directly profit. This community is not a place for ads and self-promotion.
Be Nice. We’re still working on the wording for this one, but in the meantime, feel free to report comments that you find degrading, or insulting. We want this to be a community that people find safe. l
Post Flair. All posts that show a project, whether in progress or finished, must have pattern information in the title. This rule is in a couple of places now, but we’re still finding a lot of people miss that information. It’s sometimes annoying to try to enforce this rule, but in the last meta thread, a lot of people expressed frustration at seeing a cool project posted, and not knowing what pattern was used. It isn’t hard to add this information to the title, so we will continue to enforce this rule. If you see any posts that are missing this information, you can report them with this rule as the reason.
Alright, so that’s all of the rules. I don’t think there is anything in there that is too hard to follow. However, that last one brings us to our next point. We are actively working on implementing post flair. However, even if you can tag your post with the flair, you’ll still have to type in pattern information to the title. But perhaps we can smooth it out, and have the automoderator comment on posts that need to add this information. We are planning:
Are there any other flair you’d like to see?
We’ve also started a few weekly threads. The automoderator is currently programmed to post 3 weekly threads:
So our question to you is: How do you feel about these weekly posts? How are they working for you? Is there anything else you’d like to see?
We’ve also updated the user flair! Chances are that if you had anything in your user flair, it’s gone now. We’re sorry about that. The new user flair allows for you to pick a cute little sewing-related image, and add any text if you like. So check that out!
We’ve also been updating the sidebar, and the wiki, so check those out as well! And if you have anything that you think we should add, please, share it with us.
Alright! So I think that’s all the changes we’ve made so far. If there’s anything else you’d like to see, please tell us. A few weeks ago, a lot of people were very frustrated with certain things in this subreddit, and we would love to hear some feedback from you now!
