Baltimore-area sewing Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hey! I am trying to get into sewing to tailor some of my clothes but am at college and don't have a machine (here or at home). I am wondering if theres somewhere near baltimore/Towson where I could use/rent a machine. Or if there is someone in that area who could just do a simple taper to a pair of pants? It would be too hard to hand sew that with a thread and needle, right?
