Are there alternatives to buckram that I could find aro Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I got a wild bug up my butt, and have decided I want to make (or buy in some cases) the thigns Id need for a medieval/renaissance female version of Cecil or Carlos.

One of the things i want to make is a French hood. Every website/how-to says to use buckram, but only one or two give any sort of alternative (the plastic mesh stuff seems to be a popular one).

So long story short…Are there any tings I might have around the house that I could use to make a French hood?
