The Result:
Called, in the hammock world, an underquilt. Just an insulated quilt suspended underneath the hammock

It probably has a name which I don’t know. It’s just turning like a quilt. Sew the edges and leave ~12″ to turn it right-side-in. Close with ladder stitch by hand. In my application, the materials are stacked exactly as the diagram:
shell layer
channels for shock cord
shell layer
insulation layer
Once I sew all the edges down, leaving the gap, I just invert the quilt and it leaves very clean seams
The Problem:
Imagine if you don’t suspend the quilt and instead want to use it like a blanket. The shell fabric is loose and flops around. I want to secure it somehow but sewing through the insulation ruins its ability to insulate in that area. It’s awkward to pick one side of the shell up from the middle and create a giant tent
Hope I’ve been clear enough! I’m a very novice fabric welder
