My first attempt at self drafting was a bow tie. It turned out terrible, just absolutely awful. I found it the other day and keep it hanging above my desk to remind myself how much more I used to suck, as opposed to how much less I suck now. But you’ve already made the important discovery, you can see what you need to change, what needs to be fixed. You may not get it right next time, or maybe even the third, but as long as you can keep seeing what you need to fix and change, no project, although a critical failure, is wasted. Keep that up, and you’ll have the technique and skill down to where it becomes second nature!
