Tips for cutting large pieces of fabric down to a more manageable size? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I have 6 yards of sherpa and 6 yards of minky I’m turning into baby blankets, each blanket backing measuring a yard.

The issue is I’m having one heck of a time managing it. I don’t have the space to lay it all out at once, measure a yard, then cut. Nor do I have a cutting matt that big.

Do you folks just clean your floor and lay it out? Then wash it afterwards? I’ve got 3 animals and hardwood floors so it just doesn’t seem possible to do it that way.
