Simple question about fleece. Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I have made tie-blankets before, but this year for christmas i wanted to make some tie-pillows for my family. I already have my fabric and supplies needed.

for the blankets, i typically don't prewash the fabric as I've heard it can be more difficult to cut. But I would like to wash the fabric before making the pillows. Who knows how long it's been sitting on the shelf/etc.

Is prewashing fleece going to damage the finished product at all? Or should I just wait until after I've finished the pillows to wash them? Can you even wash fleece pillows?
