Sewing an "active skirt" for cold weather hob Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

[No Pattern] So, my husband and I go cross country skiing on weekends. I recently got a down skirt that I put on over my layers while skiing. It’s amazing and keep my legs warm when I stop, but zips up the sides help with flexibility and air movement when working hard. My husband expressed his jealousy at my warm skirt and said he’d like a “kilt” of sorts. I’ve made him a kilt before, but was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to make something like this for him. I was looking at him in a long coat the other day and thought that perhaps I could sew something that had overlapping “panels” therefore having enough movement so it doesn’t impede movement but is warm when standing still. I was thinking of using a felted wool for the project.
Thoughts?
