[Self] Sewing with a bad/sensitive back? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hi all, I’m looking for some pointers or advice please. I have a bad lower back which frequently causes me problems, it’s fine most the time unless something sets it off then I’m in bed for a few days on a cocktail of painkillers. Anyway, as soon as I start sewing it starts to get sore, stiff and achy. It’s not so much sitting and sewing (although for a long period, it does ache) it’s more leaning over the table, cutting, pinning, etc. that really seems to do it. I have a custom made sewing table my SO made me which I’d estimate stands at about 4 inches short of hip height.

Today, all I did was cut and fuse two pieces of fabric and one piece of fusible batting and it’s really getting to me now. I wondered if any other sewers have back issues and how you have found ways to work around it or combat it altogether?
