If you have any good recommendations (books, blogs, etc.) for converting sewing instructions for knits into serger/overlock instructions, I’d love to hear them.
Finally gave up on my mock of Burda 6838 yesterday. There was bunching around the shoulders and back armhole area of the sleeves, the sides of the bust were still a bit big, and the front somehow got too short. Disassembled it and saved the fabric for another project.
Started this pattern then read all the reviews of how difficult it can be to use Burda. The instructions remind me of instructions I’ve read for 1970s patterns: baste, sew, clip corners, trim seam allowances, handsew, etc. And this is for a knit top! Who has time for that, when it’s 2016 and we have serger/overlock and coverstitch machines?
I’ve found some information, like setting a sleeve in flat instead of in-the-round, but all advice greatly appreciated! I’m surprised that a lot of the instructions for knits I’ve seen don’t have optional steps for serger/overlock users.
