Opinions on Singer 221k featherweight? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hi, I’m really new to sewing and I’d like to take it up as a hobby. The sidebar recommends people new to sewing should go for an older sewing machine for the metal gears. I’ve found a nice affordable Singer 221k featherweight and I was wondering if it’s a good choice for someone totally new to sewing? If not, what models are recommended? Thanks!
