My wife has been teaching sewing/dressmaking/design courses at a college for years now, after several years in the knitwear industry, and I’ve been… geeking about with amateur radio, computers, automation etc.
We’re planning to launch a site offering full course materials and a Q+A forum for craft and tech subjects, aimed at kids (and big kids). Each course would have the student make a complete project.
Would you pay for a course that taught your kid(s) how to sew, knit, embroider etc.? Would you need it to provide a fabric kit or prefer to pick your own?
We’ve decided to go against the Udemy route for now, given the high cost of their courses, but we’d of course have to build our own audience/community over time instead of relying on theirs.
Thanks for your thoughts!
EDIT: We do have a pre-launch list on the site, if anyone wants to see I’ll post the link.
I’ve also posted something similar in the /r/maker sub…
