[No Pattern] Stuff keeps shifting when pinning? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hi,

so I’m very new to sewing. No-pattern isn’t really accurate but I also couldn’t find some sort of good name or pattern number… it’s just a plushy pattern anyway. (Hand-sewing if that matters)

So I’m sewing together 2 pieces of plushy fabric that are both having their inner side facing outward (to be then inverted once sewn together). So I’m trying to pin the fabric to keep the 2 pieces aligned while I’m sewing, but I can’t seem to manage to pin them together without them moving around and being unable to be pulled back (due to being pinned) then. Any tips or hints on that? I couldn’t really seem to find a “pinning tutorial” :/
