I am making a jacket with Gore-Tex fabric. The focus is to be strong weather resistant jacket.
I would like to add a 2-3 inch inner fleece lining around the neck between the hood and the neck. It should nicely cover the seam as well as provide comfort around the neck.
Here is my problem. The garment is essentially 1 layer, so if I sew through the Gore-Tex layer, I need to waterproof the seam. So far I am waterproofing the seems with waterproofing tape. However, in this situation I am not sure how to make tape work. Here is an artist rendering of the situation to give you context.
How would you handle this situation? Do you have thoughts on what I can do to ensure the stitching does not cause moisture to get through?
