A storage shed is like a blank canvas of a painter. You have a shell (painter has a frame and canvas). What you do with the inside of the shed is determined by the user (painter). You may find that your hobby, be it sports, sewing, woodworking, etc., has you spread out in many places. You may want to build a storage shed to house all your gear in one spot. The storage shed would be a place to perform your task in peace and tranquility. With all items in one location, your hobby has returned to its rightful place as a release not a chore.
Sewing is a hobby that requires space. One needs to have some quiet time to plan your projects. The lack of interruptions and constant chatter would be welcome. The shed would be able to have room for a big table for cutting the fabric. This table would be helpful in laying out patterns. The fabric would be stored in wall cabinets and be readily accessible all the time. Other cabinets would have needles, spools of threads, buttons, and various items to keep you focused on the project, not where something is. The sewing machine would always be ready to stitch the pieces of cloth to some wonderful pattern. Your favorite chair and lamp would be there for hand stitching the cloth or working with yarn.
Everybody has a different way of dealing with space. So the shed workshop must fit the personal feeling of the user. Tight spaces are not a problem for some. Their shed could therefore be smaller and meet there needs. For the same items, a different person would need a larger shed because they have a difficult time in confines spaces. The plan you choose should consider what size best fits you personally, what you need to store, and what you feel you can spend.
The inside of the workshop shed will be personal. A cookie pattern is just an example. You must put your personal touch on the shed because you will be using it. No sense always walking to the shed saying I wished I had done this instead. When a golfer looks at the club he bought, but wishes he had the club he wanted, chances are pretty good the shot will not be his best. Do not rush the customization decision. The decision will last a long time.
The one item a shed must have is good lighting. To see what you are doing is most important. If you write, sew, read, or whatever, you will use your eyes. Do not abuse them with cheap lighting. The wiring is also important because of the fire hazard. Your hobby is an extension of yourself.
You may want to add cable for the TV. A small wood burning stove if the weather turns cold. You may need other utilities. A patio would be a place to move to when the weather cooperates. Having a barbeque pit would be quite fanciful. The only resistance to your imagination is your budget.
The workshop shed is a wonderful thing for an enthusiast. You will enjoy the peacefulness to pursue the satisfying path to tranquility. Plan the space carefully. Enjoy for a lifetime.
