For many people losing weight is a real struggle. Giving up all your favorite foods, trying to eat less, avoiding the nibbles while sitting infront of the TV and spending extensive periods of time exercising can be a real drag.

But are there things that you can do which will help you to lose weight without making your life miserable in the process?

Fortunately there is one solution that time and again has shown to accelerate weight loss and is something that most people can accomplish without too much discomfort.

When it comes to our bodies, carbohydrates really serve two main purposes. Firstly of course they provide a source of energy. And secondly they help us to feel full for longer. This is way people on a low carb diet often complain of feeling hungry. It’s perfectly logical and understandable.

But in terms of carbohydrates we can also split them roughly into two types – white carbs and non-white carbs based solely on their color. The fact is that many carbs start off brown but are then refined to create a white version of the same thing. And these white versions, while generally tastier, are far easier for our bodies to digest.

Anything which is easy to digest means we get as much energy as possible from it as quickly as possible. So if you ate white rice you would get a far bigger “hit” of carbs in comparison to eating brown rice which requires more breaking down by your body so provides a more gentle source of energy and also requires more energy to break down in the first place.

So doing something as simple as cutting out white rice, white pasta, white bread and potatoes either altogether or swapping them for the brown equivalent will normally make a huge impact on your weight loss success – without all the pain.
