Hello Reddit,
I’ve been on a few Reddit sections looking for help and I’ve been referred to this comunity for it’s sewing expertise.
I am being forced away from using disposable menstrual products due to a severe allergy and trying to follow my doctor’s advice (being don’t use products that cause harm). A cloth pad is the most budget/user friendly option I have.
I have basic quilting and clothes construction experience and I can follow a pattern. I’m thinking this would be beginner or advanced beginner. I’ve decided to get my pattern off an always disposable pad.
Fabrics:
top: quilting top cotton /licensed character fabric (100% cotton aka previous quilt project scraps)
core: heavy bamboo terry cloth x2 and cotton fleece x1 sandwiched between.
bottom liner: babyville polyurethane laminate (it’s a cloth diaper fabric)
Bottom: anti pil Cotton fleece
Fastners: Kam snaps
Questions:
Will this work as an ultra absorbent pad?
If I do a free motion quilting pattern on the core, will it be more absorbent (and then should I do a diamond or match stick pattern)?
