Looking for beginner crafts!! Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’ve been sewing small projects-fixing pockets, made a hat once, fixed a few stuffed animals, etc-by hand off and on for around 5 years and was complaining to my boyfriend about how long it took and how much it hurt my hands to do nearly any project when its cold, since i so gratefully developed moderate osteoarthritis(at the wonderful age of 22)

Well, he took note and surprised me with a wonderful set up of a brother sewing machine and all the basics that his grandmother told him i would need for Valentine’s Day and I am ecstatic. I just don’t know what to make now!! I spent 5 hours yesterday making a new purse for myself out of some star wars fabric that he obviously had to get me to start and aside from not having a clasp or zipper, it actually turned out really well and I’m really proud of it and want to do like, a lot more, I’m just lacking the brain power to think of what to make!

I’m not really looking to do any quilting yet, as we and everybody we know have plenty of blankets already and that seems like too large of a task for me to take on at this exact moment. I’m leaning more towards wanting to make dresses and skirts and costumes and probably more bags at some point but I’m not having much luck with finding beginner patterns for any of these.

Does anybody have any ideas or patterns they can toss my way? The pattern i used for my purse was intermediate and i pulled that off pretty well so i could probably do something that requires a little more skill than the basic beginner stuff but nothing too crazy just yet.

I’m also open to accepting any tips and tricks anybody has that they can toss my way!
