Believe it or not, manufacturers do make several different brands of the toy sewing machine. In most cases, these smaller versions of the real thing have been around for decades. If you happen to female, you just might remember having one of these machines when you were younger. In other cases, those of us who do remember the toy sewing machines, nowadays, we are beginning to try to find them for our daughters.

You can still find a large variety of these machines on the market today. And, in some cases you might find that they can be very costly. Antiques dealers have realized the demand for the toy machine; therefore, the prices are somewhat high, especially compared to what these little versions of Mom’s machine cost whenever they were brand new.

So, is there any money in selling one of these machines? You bet. For this article, research was done on the German machine called Casige (pronounced Kaseege). Here is what was found.

The Casige Toy Sewing Machine

Casige was a brand of one of the most popular German toy manufacturers. In the beginning, the company only produced locks. Then, a man by the name of Carl Sieper, II saw a need for small sewing machines to be produced, especially to schools.

The first Casige toy machine came off of the production line in 1902 and it was the Model 1. (Yes, there was a Model 0, but actually it wasn’t produced until 1910 or so.) There were many different models of the Casige machine produced in various colors and styles throughout the years. Many of the machines that the German toy manufacturer produced, can still be found today.

The vintage toy machine was hand cranked, which made it completely safe for school aged children to use. Depending upon the model that you find today, one can pay upwards of a couple hundred of dollars for the machine, but usually that is for the older, rarer models. Newer models of the antique machine can be found for as little as $50.

Of course the price that one can expect to pay for this German machine can vary. The price that these machines are worth today completely depends upon the condition that the machine is in. As with anything else, rarer models will be more expensive in any case; however, the value of the machine will decrease if the condition of the toy is bad. The better the condition, the more you can expect to pay, or in some cases, charge for the machine.

If you happen to have an antique Casige toy sewing machine, then you might want to hang on to it. As the years pass by, the value of the machine will continue to rise.
