I need some direction please! Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I have just started sewing however am a little stumped as to where to start. I would ideally like to make a cute pair of shorts for me to wear to my pole fitness class but I’m not sure where to look. I have also found some adorable material I would like to make into dresses but I don’t want to get a super difficult pattern. Does anyone have any favorites they would like to suggest?
