A few months ago I was asked to make the costumes for a dog fashion show. I’ve been a hobbyist seamstress (and, at times, a professional one) for about fifteen years now. These days I mostly make costumes for Halloween, cosplays, and races I participate in.
It was while I was sewing the final details on my daughter’s Belle costume for Halloween that a co-worker took interest. She was a volunteer for the no kill shelter and told me about the event. This would be the third year of Puttin’ On the Glitz and they were in need of costumes for the dogs. The first year the volunteers made everything with Goodwill garments and hot glue guns. The second year a local arts school was involved. They had a few too many issues with calamity days and deadlines, the kids never having made costumes before much less for dogs. So when they heard about me, a costume seamstress, they were very excited.
Here’s the image-heavy album of the show that took place last night. I’ve been patiently waiting for the event and pictures of the final costumes to show you guys.
