How do I pre-shrink six yards of denim? [No Pattern] Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m making a denim jumpsuit for a Vault Suit costume, and I’m not sure if I should preshrink the denim. Since this is a costume I’m probably just going to hand-wash and line dry in the future, so I don’t know if pre-shrinking is appropriate.

I’m also not sure if I can throw six yards of denim into a washing machine, or if it needs to be hemmed or similar before I do that. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
