Help, automatic buttonhole not working! Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Help! Automatic buttonhole is not working 🙁

I’ve followed all directions, watched YouTube videos, rethreaded about 5 times and all I get is tangles. Either under the fabric on the bobbin side or the top thread while I hold it. I’ve also tried not holding the top thread even though that’s what my machine instructions say to do.

I’ve used a stretch needle, universal and denim. I’ve tried denim, light fusible, and no interfacing.

I have a singer stylist, using gutterman polyester thread, the buttonhole foot seems to be set up correctly and I have the buttonhole bar thing pulled down.

Any tips?
