Hello ! Boyfriend needs help to find the right sewing machine for my girlfriend for christmas Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Hello,
So pretty self-explanatory, I’m trying to buy a sewing machine for my girlfriend for christmas as she’s been wanting one for quite a while now.

I’ve been through the buying guide but honestly it isn’t very thorough for someone who knows absolutely nothing about sewing.

Since I know nothing about it, I’m pretty lost between new and cheap models (Brother CS10VM1 for example) or older vintage models like a Singer Slant-o-matic 500A.
Could someone help me understand the difference? Pros/cons, this machine will be used to make clothes, I’m guessing mainly light fabric dresses and t-shirts, maybe some underwear and fabric bags.

Any help is very welcome, Christmas is coming very soon and I’m still quite lost 🙁
