TL;DR: Mother got ill, teached me to sew pillows and matching pillow cases
As my mother is a seamstress watching her sew is one of my oldest memories.
I wanted to try sewing myself for a few years now but we never got the chance. Last year she was diagnosed with a serious illness and somehow now was the right time for teaching me a few things. The pillows from my childhood which I still use are getting worn out as you maybe can imagine so those were my first project in sewing.
The fabric is from Spoonflower. The fabric itself (Organic Cotton Sateen Ultra) is good quality, maybe a bit thin for pillows. I’d use different basic fabric next time. I waited two months for the fabric to arrive. After three weeks with parcel tracking not updating for two weeks (I just checked, it’s still not updated) I asked them about it, they told me to tell them if the fabric didn’t arrive after a month so they would ship it again. I was not really happy with that solution as I think this wouldn’t have been fair. In retrospect I wished they care a bit more.
In the album you can see the finished goods first, then some pictures of the sewing process and the two machines I was using.
