Hi fellow sewers. I got generously given a new dritz Twinfit dressform today. However, I’m a little concerned with the measurements. I think it’s a Medium form, with waist range of 30-39, hip 41-49, and bust 33-42. My measurements are waist 30, hip 41.5, and bust (without bra) 33. My weight fluctuates a dress size or two, but I’m about a dress size and eight pounds above my target weight. However, my general figure has always been full on the bottom and scrawny on top, with my hips sometimes going up to a 42.5.
According to the purchase website, the specs on the next size down are Bust 33″ – 39 1/2″ Waist 25 1/2″ – 32 1/2″ Hip 36″ – 42″.
My question is, is it better to have a dressform that I’m at the bottom of the range for, but in case I gain some weight back it will still work, or one that may accommodate a wider range of waist sizes but be just barely big enough on the hips?
Also, how do the women who have a some fat below the waist (love handle) accommodate this in adjusting your dress forms?
