Combining a circle skirt and a gathered skirt? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m considering a floor length skirt for a dress, and I want a sort of A-line shape, but without too much bulk at the waist. However, I also want to do some pleating for aesthetics. Do you guys have any pattern-making tips for making a circle skirt with some gathering? I don’t know if a full circle or a half circle (or double) will be right for this.
