Can I use quilting cotton to sew clothing? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’ve been wanting to sew my own skirts for a while now, and when I go to the fabric store, the quilting cotton section has such amazing prints that I drool over. But since they’re labeled as quilting cotton, does that mean they’re not suitable for making clothing? (e.g. wrinkles too easily, too light, doesn’t flow the right way, etc.)
