Advice on sewing canvas or hemp seats. Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

We have an outdoor patio set that is amazing. We have to completly restore it though. The seats are canvas and totally falling apart. I have a brother cs-6000i. Can I sew a think hemp/canvas material? I’m a complete novice but feel comfortable doing this very simple pattern. The material and thread will have to sustain the weight of the sitter as it is the seat. No support otherwise. Any and all suggestions are very welcomed.
