Advice on a serger! Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m needing some insight on whether or not I’m getting a good deal! A coworkers mother died several months ago and he and his brother have been cleaning her house out. Buried in a closet he found a serger. Knowing I’m a sewer he asked me if I would be interested for $50. He brought the manual..it’s a White Speedy Lock Model 229/229D. I know nothing about it except he said it’s in the original box and doesn’t look like it was used very much. I can’t find anything about them online and I’m guessing it’s not a newer model which isn’t important to me. I’ve seem other reviews online about speedy locks and they weren’t great but I thought I might get lucky here!!!
