Question: why are sergers smaller than regular sewing m Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

A serger is supposed to be more complicated than a regular sewing machine, there are more threads and moving parts and bobbins and so on. Howeveer I have seen sergers on sale that have half the size of a regular home sewing machine. How can this be possible?
