I have a stuffed animal that I don't like the fabr Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I saw a tutorial once a long time ago about how to use a pair of pants you own and like already as a pattern to make new pants. I think it involved ripping the seams and then creating a pattern from the pieces. I am a pretty experienced sewer/quilter, but I have never done a project like this.

Is there a word specifically for doing this?

I guess “reconstruction” is a similar concept, but there is no damage to the item. I just want the same shape of stuffed animal made out of a different material.

Has anyone done this before? Any tips or useful links?
