What are your favorite places to buy unique fabrics? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m planning a fold over style bag and I’ve been looking for weeks and just can’t find a fabric with the right feel. I’d really love to find something that has a painted quality, like the sterling ruby textiles used in Dior’s 2012 collection. But, in general where are your favorite shops for unique, imported, or hard to find fabrics?

Edit: I guess I should add that I’m in the US.
