Has anyone here traveled with hand sewing supplies? (ne Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I'm going on a two week vacation later this year and will have LOTS of downtime. I'm also starting an applique quilt and wonder if this is a good chance to make a lot of progress on it.

The flight is 16 hours so being able to do some work on the plane would be amazing. But that requires sharp things like a needle. I could probably have it all precut to avoid any scissors except teeny tiny thread cutters.
