Cost and time to produce a sample Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m very new to the industry of manufacturing clothing. I’d like to get a collection that I have designed made into samples and then a full collection done.

I have sent the collection off to a manufacturer who have responded with the price of a sample for each design. I’ll give an example, a very minimalistic hoodie I’d like to be sampled is going to cost be £256, due to a £25 an hour fee, 6 hours pattern cutting, 1 hour sample cutting and 3 hours sewing and finishing.

To me this seems extremely expensive so I just want to know if this is how long it should really take and if £25 an hour is a fair fee.

Any help and advice would really be appreciated as i’m on a fairly limited budget!
