Environmentally friendly alternative to neoprene? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

Wondering if anyone knows of any type of eco-friendly alternative to neoprene fabric. I’m planning a new collection and have been obsessed with the texture and overall feel of neoprene but hate that the fabric is so bad for the environment. I’m planning on using the neoprene for coats and a few dresses so I’m not worried about finding a fabric that has the same utilitarian qualities as neoprene (ie: good for wetsuits and swimwear) but want something with a similar weight and hand for fabric manipulation.
