Any recommendations for a good place to get fabric for Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I’m going to be in Manhattan today and was thinking of picking up some fabric for my next project. I’m going to be downtown and to be honest I’m a little daunted going into those intense shops that give fabric to costumers and professionals since I mainly sew as a hobby and only work on little fat quarter projects for the most part. Any advice or recommendations on places to shop?
