Considering learning how to make my own clothes, is it worth my time? Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

My taste generally revolves around gyaruo and onii-kei fashion, leaning towards the slightly more conservative onii-kei look. It’s basically a lot of dark, fitted clothing that drapes, sometimes layered with stuff like cardigans (With and without sleeves).

For a lot of the stuff I want, I would have to import (For at least the next few months), and it can be quite expensive. Even when I’ll be in Shibuya in a few months from now and won’t have to worry about import costs, it will be pricey. For shirts, generally anywhere from ￥4000-￥6000. There are cheaper alternatives, but the quality is a little… Well, cheap. So I’ve taken into consideration learning how to sew. I figure that I could buy nice fabric and at least make my own shirts to save some money but also have a little more control over what I wear. At the very least, it would ensure that I’m not wearing the same shirt as anyone else 😛

My mom has sewing materials around the house somewhere, I could easily find them and five it a shot. Would I be wasting my time? Is it particularly hard to drape a shirt?
