Sewing Log/Notebook Sewing Machines Parts and Sales in Los Angeles

I'm a newbie, and taking a 3-day serger course in January (in Metro Detroit if you want to come!) What methods do you use to keep track of how to use your machines and notes for projects you complete? I'm thinking of dusting off the ipad and using evernote, because I have a half dozen stray sheets and notebooks with partial notes… Help me keep from losing all I learn!
