Have you ever wanted to make something simple and inexpensive for your favorite NFL football fan? Well, here’s one really easy idea. It takes just a few supplies to create an NFL No Sew Fleece Throw. You can make it in a matter of minutes for half the price of something you would find in a store. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Scissors or Rotary Cutter (using a rotary cutter, be sure your blade is sharp)

• Straight Edge (for use with your rotary cutter)

• Minimum 1 yard of fleece fabric

Before you begin your blanket, consider the size you want it to be. Most fleece is 60″ wide. If you want a child sized blanket or a small throw just for your feet 1 yard is perfect. If you’d rather have a square blanket, you’ll need to purchase 1 5/8 yards of fabric. If you’re making a blanket to wrap yourself up in or for a larger person I suggest 2- 2 1/2 yards of length.

1. Lay your fleece fabric out on a table as flat as possible.

2. If you’re using a rotary cutter make sure you use a rotary cutter mat underneath your cutting area.

3. Now cut off the selvage on each side of the fabrics edge. The selvage is the edge that runs along the entire bottom of the fabric when it was wrapped around the bolt.

That’s pretty much it! If you’re a perfectionist like me you’ll want to use your sharp rotary cutter with your straight edge to make sure every edge is perfect. But let’s face it, after a few spills and a few washings, do you really care?

Have fun! I found an absolutely fabulous selection of NFL fleece on line, if you want to check it out here’s the website.
