White marks on toenails can be caused by a variety of things. It could be due to a nutrient deficiency. It could also be due to the formaldehyde totulene chemicals within nail polish. The worst case scenario is that its a fungus.

Symptoms of Toenail Fungus

Nails will often start to fog up and become brittle. Discoloration of the nails is common. Discolored white, brown, black, or yellow spots may form on infected nails. Thickening of the nails is often the case with nail fungus. You may start to notice a slight smell coming from under the toenail. Perhaps you’ll also feel a slight pain when you put pressure on the toe.

Treatment

If you think you have toenail fungus there are some pretty easy ways to cure it. The most aggressive treatment of toenail fungus is with an ingested prescription medication. Unfortunately this medication is highly toxic and can cause damage to your liver and kidneys. These pills are also very expensive.

Over the counter topical solutions for nail fungus are often ineffective. They deliver inadequate treatment directly to the fungus. Even when treatment is delivered it often isn’t enough to get the fungus gone.

One of the most effective methods I tried that cured my toenail fungus was a combination treatment. I started out by taking a hot shower and then lightly filed the surface of my thick toenail down. The shower helps soften the nail up. After this I dipped my feet in dark beer and white vinegar for about 30 minutes per treatment. Following this I applied a natural toenail treatment. This combination did the trick and my nails finally were free from fungus after a few weeks.

I’m sure with a little persistence you’ll be able to treat your toenail fungal infection as well.
