Your room may look perfect, but are not you forgetting something important? Are your pillows matching with your room décor? If not, then try to make decorator pillows that go well with your bedroom or living room. You can try some fancy or simple designs according to your will. The final step, however, is closing up the gap by stitching it. The gap is concealed by the hand blind stitch, which only requires hand and you do not need to fix sewing machines for the purpose. The correct stitches must be invisible on the pillow seam, which explains the name of this type of stitching. Now you are free from sewing machine repair as you will not need those gadgets for the purpose.

First of all let us see what the essentials for hand blind stitch are. There is not much stuff to collect. All you need is a thread of the same color as the pillow, needle, scissors and iron. In order to give final touches to your pillow, apply the hand blind stitch with the following steps:

• You need to press under the edges of the fabric surrounding the gap. The best time to do this is when you are about to place the pillow covering over the pillow. The pressed areas will help you in stitching.

• Next you need to cut a thread that is about 15 inches long. Pass the thread through the needle’s eye in order to get a double thread with equal lengths then tie the ends of the thread by double knots.

• Keep your pillow in your lap with the gap open towards you. Insert the needle through the fabric on one side and draw it along the other side of the opening. Make sure to bring out the needle from the point where you pressed the fabric. This way, you can conceal the knot of thread and then go on stitching the fabric at the right edge of the gap.

• After that, make a tiny stitch with the needle on the opposite side of the fabric, right beneath the press line on the fabric. Stitch right across the gap such that the fabric joins and makes approximately 1/8 inch long stitch.

• Take your needle to one stitch back on the first side of the fabric at the spot where you pressed. While doing so, don’t forget to make the stitch across the gap again.

• Carry on with the stitching of both sides of the fabric across the gap. It must be done in a back and forth movement across the gap until you seal it shut.

• Finally, tie a knot on the needle’s end of the thread such that it rests on the fabric. Insert the needle in the pillow to make an inch long stitch and take the needle back again. Cut the thread just above the fabric. This final stitch will bury your knot invisibly into the pillow.

Once you have a decorated pillow by your side, all you need to give is a hand blind stitch to give it some final touches.
